We are currently in the process of adopting 2 baby boys from the Democratic Republic of Congo (a.k.a. the DRC). Many children here are “true orphans” where both parents are deceased either due to war or disease. Many others are “social orphans” where their parents have abandoned them, because they are unable to care for them.
What organization We’re Using: One has the option to either adopt internationally using an adoption agency or to be bold and cut out the middle man by adopting directly through an orphanage. Not using an agency can prove to be quite sticky, and since this is our first adoption, we decided to play it a little safer by going through One World Adoptions (O.W.A.).
